Cost
For 2,000 grafts you typically pay CHF 5,600 to CHF 9,000 in Switzerland. The range runs from CHF 3,700 to CHF 11,300 depending on clinic, method and what is included. Based on the public price lists of 12 clinics.
Switzerland or Turkey? Total cost for 2,000 grafts
The price gap is real, but smaller than package prices suggest. What foreign packages lack: a medical assessment beforehand, check-ups over 12 months and a team you can reach when problems arise.

Price matters, but it is rarely what patients regret later. What counts is who performs the procedure and how well you are looked after before and after.
Grafts come from the band of hair at the back of the head, and what is taken there does not grow back. Every badly placed graft is missing later. A failed transplant can therefore only be corrected to a limited extent.
You see your hairline, density and scars in the mirror every day. Spread over 30 years, a CHF 2,000 price difference is less than CHF 6 a month.
Ask who extracts and implants the grafts, how many procedures take place per day and whether the cause of your hair loss is checked first.
The final result only shows after about 12 months. Good clinics stay with you the whole time, treat further hair loss and are reachable when you have questions.
That is why price counts for only 15% of our rating. Expertise, aftercare and transparency weigh more. How we rate →

A hair transplant moves your own hair follicles (grafts) from the back of the head, which is genetically resistant to hair loss, into bald or thinning areas. Swiss clinics almost exclusively use the FUE method, where individual follicles are extracted with hollow needles of 0.7 to 0.9 mm. Variants such as Sapphire FUE or DHI differ mainly in how the grafts are implanted.
Around 15 specialised providers perform hair transplants in Switzerland, half of them in the Zurich area. Prices range from CHF 3 to CHF 6 per graft. More important than price is who performs the critical steps: designing the hairline and making the incisions should be done by a doctor, not by technicians.
A failed hair transplant can only be corrected to a limited extent, because the donor area is finite. Reputable clinics therefore first establish the cause of hair loss, stabilise it with medication if needed and plan for the long term. Before you commit, check whether diagnostics and 12 months of aftercare are included in the price.
Depending on the number of grafts and the clinic, a hair transplant in Switzerland costs between CHF 2,700 and around CHF 14,000. For a typical procedure with 2,000 grafts most clinics charge CHF 5,600 to CHF 9,000. Per graft you pay CHF 3 to 6.
The best clinic depends on your diagnosis. We rate medical expertise, diagnostics and aftercare, price transparency, value for money and patient reviews. Clinics that assess patients thoroughly before surgery and follow them up for 12 months achieve the highest overall scores.
The procedure itself is much cheaper in Istanbul at CHF 1,800 to 3,500. Once you add flights, a companion, days off work, self-paid check-ups in Switzerland and the risk of a correction, the gap shrinks. Swiss clinics usually include the assessment and local follow-up.
No. For hereditary hair loss, a hair transplant is considered cosmetic and is not covered by basic insurance and usually not by supplementary insurance either. Exceptions are hair loss after accidents, burns or surgery.
A receding hairline usually needs 800 to 1,500 grafts, temples plus crown 2,000 to 3,000, and advanced hair loss 4,000 or more. The exact number depends on the area, hair thickness and donor area.
Yes, if the hair loss is stable and the donor area is dense enough. Common uses are a high forehead, thinning temples or scars. With diffuse thinning across the whole scalp, the cause must be investigated first.
