Choosing well

A hair transplant is not something you do twice

Price matters, but it is rarely what patients regret later. What counts is who performs the procedure and how well you are looked after before and after.

  1. 1

    Donor hair is limited

Grafts come from the band of hair at the back of the head, and what is taken there does not grow back. Every badly placed graft is missing later. A failed transplant can therefore only be corrected to a limited extent.

  2. 2

    The result stays for life

You see your hairline, density and scars in the mirror every day. Spread over 30 years, a CHF 2,000 price difference is less than CHF 6 a month.

  3. 3

Medical care, not a production line

Ask who extracts and implants the grafts, how many procedures take place per day and whether the cause of your hair loss is checked first.

  4. 4

    Aftercare makes the difference

The final result only shows after about 12 months. Good clinics stay with you the whole time, treat further hair loss and are reachable when you have questions.

That is why price counts for only 15% of our rating. Expertise, aftercare and transparency weigh more. How we rate →

Frequently asked questions

How do I recognise a good hair clinic?

By three things: a doctor designs the hairline and makes the recipient incisions personally, the cause and stability of your hair loss are assessed before surgery, and the clinic offers check-ups for at least 12 months. Ask specifically in the first consultation who performs which steps.

How many hair transplant clinics are there in Switzerland?

We reviewed 14 specialised providers. About half are based in the Zurich area, others in Bern, Lucerne, Basel, Zug and eastern Switzerland. Some dermatologists and plastic surgeons also offer hair transplants as part of their services.

Is a more expensive clinic automatically better?

No. The price depends heavily on whether the doctor performs every step personally or a team of technicians is involved, and on what is included. Compare price per graft and scope (diagnostics, PRP, medication, check-ups), not just the final price.
